Two additional properties, Merit Hotel & Suites and Radisson Hotel & Suites Fort McMurray, sustained greater fire, smoke and water damage and a full assessment and action plan for repair and remediation is being developed and implemented. The timeline for full opening could be up to three months.
All Temple properties have been subjected to air quality testing with results generally showing that air quality at all properties is within normal ranges for indoor hotel environments and below applicable guidelines and standard limits with only a few localized exceptions. Soot, char, and fire debris were also tested to inform replacement and/or cleaning of hard and soft surfaces. Additional testing will be conducted after all remediation and cleaning is complete to ensure that the indoor areas have been restored to their pre-fire condition.
“We have worked closely with Municipal and Provincial Governments to provide accommodations to First Responders and others providing required assessment and restoration services to the community,” said K. Rai Sahi, Chief Executive Officer of Temple Hotels. “Our efforts are focused on bringing the impacted hotels on line to serve the immediate needs of Fort McMurray.”
Guests returning to Fort McMurray can claim belongings that were abandoned within our hotel properties at the time of evacuation by contacting the indivdual properties. Guests not returning to Fort McMurray should direct their inquries to info@fortmcmurrayhotels.ca.
